If your kids think libraries are boring or they enjoy them, you will need to visit the Cerritos Library! Mine and my kids all-time favorite library hands down. The Cerritos Library houses a 15,000-gallon saltwater aquarium that you are immediately greeted with upon entering. The Cerritos Library has the coolest kids’ section ever and it makes me wish I was a kid again. Continue reading to learn more about the Cerritos Library’s kids’ area! It’s a quick read, I promise.
Located a few blocks away from the 91 freeway, this beautiful library definitely sparks imagination and wonder. This library is in a great location, within walking distance to a sculpture garden and dolphin fountain. There is also a park down the street, the Cerritos Performing Arts Center (Farmers Market held in the parking lot every Saturday from 9am-12pm rain or shine), and the Cerritos Town Center (Trader Joes, Starbucks, and Home Goods located here) I mean, if I haven’t hooked you yet with the surrounding places, then let me indulge you with what’s INSIDE this incredible library.
Just on the other side of the aquarium is the kid’s section. A giant book archway welcomes you to a world of imagination. It might be overwhelming at first, but give yourself time take it all in. From a lighthouse seating area, massive tree with branches overhanging, a 40-foot Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil replica, space shuttle and more to discover; There is a space for everyone to settle in with a good book. They also offer a computer lab with kid friendly games and quiet spaces for homework.
Even if you have a kiddo that doesn’t like to read, the Cerritos Library will help keep them occupied and engaged. I love that this library is close to a park which is great for letting that energy out; especially if you have energetic kids like mine. This is our favorite library and my kids ask to go often. I hope you are your kiddos enjoy it too!
